We were totally won over by this old wine producing Domain based in an Aude village a few minutes from the Canal du Midi between the Corbières and the Minervois. Close to the delightful city of Narbonne, we’re only a few kilometres from the Mediterranean, easily accessible by train (20 minutes from the station of Narbonne), by air (airports at Béziers, Montpellier, Carcassonne, Perpignan, Girona, Barcelona) or by road (20 minutes from the A9 and A62 motorways).

As you meander around, you will fall for the lovely natural sites a well as the cultural and wine making heritage of the Languedoc-Roussillon, where the sun shines for over 300 days a year.

We were enchanted by the architecture of this 19th century domain, its tower and dovecotes, its wrought iron gates and tree-filled park.  It offers an atmosphere that is simple, elegant and peaceful. Previous owners produced wine here. It was also a village tradition that newlyweds should be photographed under the magnificent old oak tree which is about 300 years old, a true symbol of longevity. It’s a seriously great place to live.

It was this majestic oak and the domain’s well that inspired us to name it PUYCHENE.

Helped by an architect, we renovated meticulously, taking care to conserve the old wine vats, the exposed stone facades, the dovecote in the tower the old terracotta tiles to create 10 confortable gîtes. Our absolute aim is to provide you with a calm, natural setting in which to enjoy comfortable, practical and welcoming holidays – and feel as though you are at home. And you can relax by the pool too!

Each gîte consists of a ground and first floor with a private garden.  Each has a personality of its own and has been equipped with care for your comfort.

Our landscape garden designer was elected, in 2004, ‘the best Garden Art craftsman in France’, a distinction awarded by their peers to the best craftsmen in France. A lover of Mediterranean plants, our project was truly love at first sight for her.  Together, we created gardens that are alive all year round, giving out a varied atmosphere with a great range of colours and scents.

The swimming pool (which is heated in may, june and september) is the ideal friendly and relaxing place for a break between trips and activities. Children can swim or play with their friends in absolute security as the property is totally walled in and the pool also benefits from protection.

There’s a private car park inside the domain’s walls.

Our property is part of a delightful Languedoc-Roussilon village. Its welcoming atmosphere is reflected in the café with its shady terrace, its bread shop, the grocer and the newspaper shop – all a stone’s throw from the domain. Whether with family or friends, you can wander there at your own pace, do your shopping or enjoy a drink. And there are supermarkets and chemist at around 2 kms from the domain.

You’ll probably want to visit some of the many markets in Narbonne and the surrounding villages and discover some of the region’s splendid products (fish, shellfish, olives, tapenade, honey, cheese…).

From your gîte it’s easy to run, walk or bike along the banks of the Canal du Midi, along a path that is just a few metres from the domain.

In our sunny region holidays can be thoroughly varied with a huge range of activities for all ages. From our domain you can set out for a host of interesting sites: the Languedoc region is home to a multitude of activities and outstanding sites which will make your holiday unforgettable. You’ll get full value for your holidays: water-based from the beaches (body boarding, paddle and kite surfing); historic sites (city of Carcassonne, Cathar castles, Fontfroide Abbey, medieval villages of Lagrasse and Minerve …), cycling in the wild garrigue, Narbonne museums, twisty old lanes in Montpellier, Pézénas or Collioure, tasting and buying wine direct from the producers, not to forget the restaurants waiting for you in the villages, by the sea or the Canal du Midi…

Why not make a trip to Spain ? The border is only about 100 kms away.

We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our love for our lovely Mediterranean region in the south of France.  And, of course, we’re available to advise you and point you in the right direction depending on your wishes.

Our priority is simple: that your holidays should be a huge success!

We look forward to meeting you.
